You will need to have an extensive knowledge of automobile assembly to attempt to build a Coffin Nose Kit for yourself. This car is by far one of the most difficult and time-consuming project kit cars. If you purchase any one of the Coffin Nose Kits listed below, there will be no bodywork done to the bodies. If stated, parts will be fit and contoured, but beyond that, you are responsible for the finish on the body. We must note that as of this time we do not have an assembly manual for this automobile, but feel free to call us for tips or ideas on planning your project.

The New Coffin Nose

Speedster Motorcar Sales has now added to its line of classic cars with the launch of the Coffin Nose Speedster, crafted in the spirit of the 1937 810 Cord.  The body design of the Cord 810 was the work of designer Gordon M. Buehrig and his team of stylists, which included young Vince Gardner. Nearly devoid of chrome, the new car was so low it required no running boards. Pontoon fenders, wraparound grill, and a  concealed gas hatch were featured. Its engine-turned dashboard included complete instrumentation, including a tachometer and built-in radio.

The new car caused a sensation at the 1936 New York Auto Show in November. The crowds around the 810 were so dense, attendees stood on the bumpers of nearby cars to get a look. Many orders were taken at the show, but the cars were not ready to deliver until February. The engine featured a transmission which extended in front of the engine, like a Traction Avant. As a result, the front wheels were well forward of the engine. This also enabled the floor of the car to be much lower than the typical automobile.

We have taken the essence of the  car and modernized it.  On the design board for over ten years, the Coffin Nose Speedster has finally come to life.  The design of the car incorporates suicide doors and a tilt front hood.  Ribbed stainless steel bumpers adorn the front and the rear of the car.  Shaved door handles will be optional as well as power windows.  Hidden headlights add to the stylish look of the car.  We deleted the original side pipes for a sleeker look.  There is ample trunk space to store your luggage should you be inclined to take a long trip.

The Coffin Nose Speedster redefines the street rod automobile.  There is not a car on the market today that compares to the looks and styling of the Coffin Nose. We are currently taking orders now.  Don’t wait and miss out on owning a true piece of automotive design.
